The Wagadagam dance group are proud performing artists originating from the Torres Strait Islands who share their ancient stories with the audience through dance and music. The group, many of whom were born and raised in Broome, demonstrate ancestral traditions, embracing immense spiritual beliefs while depicting their strong sense of connection to their land.
The dynamic, vibrant and energetic family of performers wear traditional dress and play music from their homeland as well as their own works for traditional dance performances that provide both exciting entertainment and a means of promoting their culture, encouraging awareness and understanding of this culture.
Among retaining state recognition, the dance group are an exciting cultural asset to the community and are excellent Indigenous role models. They regularly perform not only within the region including performances for NAIDOC, Shinju Festival and Broome Tourism events but also throughout the country at a variety of cultural festivals including National NAIDOC
