Goolarri Media Students Graduate in Style

Local Broome students Annie Dann and Mandela Yu have just completed their 2 year Event Management Diploma to be the first ever students to graduate with these qualifications out of Goolarri Media Enterprise's Reality Based Training program.

Goolarri Media was scoped to deliver training in Events Management in 2004 and is the only Registered Training Organisation in Broome with the ability to provide national qualifications and training for the Diploma in Events Management. This package covers diverse occupations in the entertainment industry with Goolarri's students focusing on business and event management and front of house production. Completion of the Diploma ensures new pathways are opened for these hard working role models for employment in the event sector of the entertainment industry.

Annie Dann and Mandela Yu have successfully completed a total of 36 high level units over 2 years whilst actively working in the industry on events such as the Kullarri NAIDOC Festival, Shinju Matsuri and Kimberley Girl.

"Goolarri's Reality Based Training program is an ideal opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and experience whilst studying and working on the job. We are very proud of our achievements over the last 2 years and feel honoured to have worked on such great community projects during this time", say Dann and Yu.

These 2 young women graduated at a ceremony held at Goolarri Media on Friday May 30 and were joined by 19 other training graduates in Screen and Broadcasting from Goolarri Media and Remote Communities in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions.

As an integral part of Goolarri's Reality Based Training Program students are able to undertake genuine and vital activities by working through the development, production and post production phases of a number of large scale projects managed by Goolarri Media. These include daily radio broadcasting through Radio Goolarri and PAKAM, productions for Goolarri Television GTV35 and high profile community events and festivals.

Goolarri Media Managing Director Mr Kevin Fong said we pride ourselves on giving our youth the "Wings to Fly" and further highlights the importance of continued enabling and capacity building investment by government and the business community to make a difference and provide opportunities for young people.
